Vanessa believes that each one of us holds the potential to cope with life’s challenges; however, sometimes we need help discovering our inner strengths and resiliency. With her help, you can gain unique insight and learn effective strategies to increase your feelings of self-worth and attain a meaningful life.

Vanessa provides a safe space for individuals to explore their emotions and work through their issues at a pace that they are comfortable with. She works from a person-centered approach, allowing people to feel heard, understood, and validated. Depending on your goals, she may also integrate aspects of Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural (CBT), Emotionally Focused (EFT), Dialectical Behaviour (DBT), or Solution-Focused Therapy. Her overall approach is grounded in mutual trust, non-judgment, respect for diversity, and acceptance of each person’s experiences.

Vanessa works with people of all ages, in the context of individual, couple, or family sessions. When working with children, she uses play, art, and sandtray based strategies, in accordance with the child’s developmental needs and therapeutic goals.

Prior to her role at Sojourn, Vanessa has worked in an intensive outpatient clinic providing individual and group therapy to people struggling with mental health, addictions, and trauma. She also has experience working with children and families at CASA, Child, Adolescent, and Family Services, and The Family Centre.

In her spare time, Vanessa enjoys traveling, exploring nature, and spending time with family, friends, and her dog, Muffin.
