About Sojourn - Our Team

Ron Edwards
As a Counselling Therapist Ron encourages health and wholeness in people, relationships and families. He comes to Sojourn from a diverse educational background that includes biological sciences, theology and psychology. He has studied Pastoral Counselling at Taylor University and Counselling Psychology at City University of Seattle. He has experience working as a Pastoral Psychology Intern at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in the psychiatric unit and outpatient counselling.

Ron’s relevant work and volunteer experience includes Child and Youth Care work with youth and adolescents, camp leadership as the head of male Counsellors for Birch Bay Ranch, inner-city ministry and research. Exposure to work in a variety of fields including human services, sales, food services, construction and self-employment as a subcontractor make it easy for Ron to identify with people from all walks of life.

Ron works from a holistic/wellness approach utlilizing effective psychological approaches with current research on the mind/body connection in order to improve emotional, relational and physical health. Ron utilizes a number of psychological approaches including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical-Behavior Therapy, Emotionally-Focused Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Gestalt and Family Systems.

Ron believes that each person has worth, value and potential to achieve great things, and that psychological and emotional problems can prevent people from attaining these. Through counselling and hard work it is possible for people to cope with life and be all they are created to be. Ron provides a safe, supportive environment, supporting clients to freely express themselves and to achieve their therapy goals.
