Emotion Management

Emotion Management for Children

At times a parent may notice that their child is struggling with emotions.  It can be very confusing to see your child struggling with sadness or fears, or even embarrassment. It can be a great resource for a child to have support from a psychological counsellor to help evaluate their experience and build tools for emotion management.

Sometimes parents may question if their child really needs therapy for emotion regulation, stress and emotional concerns.  Your child may not fit the criteria for a mental health issue.  We see many children who come in for an emotion check-up.  One of our child therapists will support your child and you to build strategies for your child to manage their feelings.

Emotional concerns your child may face:

  • Helplessness
  • Hopelessness
  • Overwhelmed
  • Passiveness
  • Rigidity
  • Sadness
  • Shame
  • Aggression
  • Anger
  • Anxiety
  • Bullying others
  • Embarrassment
  • Excessive Tearfulness
  • Fear
  • Guilt

One of our child psychologist can help you and your child make sense of their emotions and help to find positive methods for emotion management.  Call today to book an appointment: 780-449-1196
